LOOKING AFTER OUR WIDOWS
The Island Compass Group is a very successful venture among Isle of Wight Lodges. The group, which is run by W.Bro. Chris Thomas P.P.G.Swd.B. and his wife Jenny, assisted by W.Bro. John Howell P.P.A.G.Swd.B. as Treasurer, now has over 150 names on the mailing list and draws interest from all seventeen Isle of Wight Lodges.
Whilst it is aimed at providing a social base for the widows and widowers, many older brethren and their wives support the events.
Since the first meeting in March 2005 the programme has included city shopping trips, visits to Grand Lodge, The Houses of Parliament and other places of interest as well as Coffee Mornings, Lunches and Afternoon Teas. The next event is a visit to meet up with The Amity Circle in Chandlers Ford. (Details elsewhere on this site).
The Group has enabled members to make new friends, rekindle old acquaintances and maintain connections with whom they enjoyed social occasions before their circumstances changed.
